High Temperature Resistance

GenAI systems generate significant heat due to the high power demands of GPUs. Nichicon’s conductive polymer hybrid capacitors—the GYA, GYC, GYE, GYF, GYD, GXC and GWC series (rated for up to 150 °C)—are engineered for stable performance in thermally demanding environments. Our conductive polymer aluminum solid electrolytic capacitors, such as the PCA and PCW series, also offer excellent reliability and performance at high temperatures.

Long Life and High Reliability

Capacitors designed for long operating lifespans are crucial for genAI applications, where components are difficult to replace. Nichicon’s PCA series of chip-type conductive polymer aluminum solid electrolytic capacitors is guaranteed to last 4,000 hours with ripple current applied, while the PCM series is rated to last 8,000 hours under DC.

Low ESR

AI servers demand capacitors with low ESR for input and output to limit power losses and heat dissipation. Nichicon designs and manufactures a range of low-ESR capacitors suited for use in genAI stacks. Our GYA, GYB, GYC, GYD, GYE, GYF, GXC, and GWC series of conductive polymer hybrid aluminum electrolytic capacitors deliver low ESR and high ripple current combined with excellent resistance to high temperature.

Compact with High Capacitance

Nichicon produces capacitors with low profiles and high capacitance, crucial for maintaining voltage stability while handling the high currents used by AI processors without sacrificing on PCB area. Our UTH series of miniature capacitors is well suited for use in genAI stacks for its high temperature resistance and low-temperature ESR specification.

Advantages over MLCC

Conductive polymer aluminum electrolytic capacitors such as our PCW series offer significant advantages over multi-layer ceramic capacitors when used in DC 5 V bus lines. Unlike MLCCs, conductive polymer capacitors do not suffer from capacitance reduction due to DC bias or voltage and capacitance reduction at high temperatures. Additionally, one conductive polymer capacitor has been able to replace as many as nine MLCCs based on our testing, freeing up board space.
