Nichicon Corporation has released the UXY Series. These vibration-resistant, radial lead aluminum electrolytic capacitors are optimized for the high vibration requirements of the in-vehicle applications market.
Overview/Development Background
In recent years, auto engineers have moved the Engine Control Unit (ECU) from the cabin to the engine compartment, installing it directly onto the engine and transmission. This shift, along with increased demands for high-vibration resistance, inspired Nichicon to create the UXY Series.
Features
As in-vehicle applications require higher capacity, product size increases, but the vibration resistance typically decreases. To solve this problem, Nichicon created a new structure using proprietary technologies. The result: a larger product (φ18 x 31.5L to φ18 x 40L (mm)) able to handle a max vibration speed of 40G and temperatures over 125 °C (compared to conventional products, which are unable to handle more than 19G). This is now the highest level of vibration resistance in the industry, enabling Nichicon to meet demands for vibration resistance in a range of in-vehicle control units.
