Nichicon Expands Rating on UCH Series ESR Regulated Chip-Type Aluminum Capacitors after Endurance Testing
9/28/2016

After much testing, Nichicon Corporation has expanded the rating of its UCH Series, comprised of ESR regulated, chip-type aluminum capacitors. With a performance level of 2,000 hours at 125 °C, as well as high- and low-temperature ESR regulation, Nichicon's UCH Series meets the demands of automotive application markets.
These products will be displayed at CEATEC JAPAN 2016, held October 4 (Tuesday) to 7 (Friday) at Makuhari Messe.
Overview/Development Background
Within automotive-related devices, there is an increasing need for ESR specifications compatible with both high temperatures (125 °C) and low temperatures (-40 °C). An increase in electronic controls and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) means that chip-type capacitors are also sought after for their use in engine and drivetrain peripheral ECU’s (Engine Control Unit).
Demands for higher capacity are also increasing, due to enhanced functionality and performance of auto-related devices. The UCH Series contributes to energy-saving, longer life set devices and meets a variety of growing automotive demands.
Features
The products in the UCH Series incorporate new, low-evaporation electrolytic solutions and high-magnification, high-capacity electrode foil. This allows for higher capacity and lower ESR than the current 125 °C low ESR UCZ Series. This series promotes set device automotive environment support, reduced labor, energy conservation and longer life. Endurance is guaranteed up to 2,000 hours at 125 °C (after endurance testing ESR φ8 × 10L: 4.5 Ω at 40 ° C/400 kHz, φ10 × 10L: 3.5 Ω at -40°C/400 kHz).
