NICHICON Expands the UCM Series with the Addition of φ12.5 to φ18 mm Capacitors

SCHAUMBURG, IL – Nichicon Corporation is expanding its UCM Series product line with the addition of φ12.5 mm to φ18 mm size capacitors. The UCM Series are high-capacity, high-ripple current chip-type aluminum electrolytic capacitors.
Nichicon developed its enhanced UCM Series product line to meet the need for chip-type aluminum electrolytic capacitors in electronic component surface mounting. These new products can serve as automotive-related equipment power supply backups or as small, high-capacity and high-ripple current capacitors for high-density mounting of telecommunications equipment.
These expanded products have approximately 1.9 times higher capacity and 2.1 times higher ripple current than the existing 105 ℃ chip products in the UCD series. This is accomplished by applying high-capacitance electrolytic foil and thin electrolytic paper, as well as optimizing the combination of components and structure used.
The product is guaranteed to 5,000 hours at 105 ℃. The series will be produced at Nichicon (Ohno) Corporation in Fukui Prefecture, Japan, and at Nichicon (Iwate) Corporation in Iwate Prefecture, Japan.
