Schaumberg, IL: Nichicon Corporation has released a new line of surface mount electrolytic capacitors called the “UCV series.” This high-capacity, low impedance series is guaranteed to operate for 2,000 hours at 105 °C. The UCV series is ideal for meeting the high-performance, compact size requirements of today’s home appliances and transportation applications.
As the demand for higher-density increases in consumer electronics and other electronic modules, the demand for SMD capacitors is increasing. This is creating a demand for smaller capacitors with higher capacitance and low impedance. The UCV series uses Nichicon’s advanced thin cathode foils and thin electrolytic paper to achieve this high capacity SMD capacitor. This higher capacitance in a small package will allow the designer to utilize fewer parts and maintain the same requirements as previous designs.
Nichicon’s current UCM series requires 3 parts; 25 V/220 µF, 6.3 mm x 7.7 mm where the UCV series would require 2 (25 V/330 µF, 6.3 mm x 7.7 mm), saving board space.
The UCV is presently offered in 25 V and 35 V, with ratings of 220 µF to 1,000 µF, at -55 °C to +105 °C. It is available in either a 6.3 mm x 7.7 mm to 10 mm x 10 mm case size. Both sample and production quantities are available now. For further information and evaluation units, contact us by email at sales@nichicon-us.com. Data sheets are available as well.
