The leader in aluminum capacitors has set another industry standard.
SCHAUMBURG, IL (TOKYO, JAPAN) — Nichicon Corporation, one of the largest capacitor manufacturers in the world, unveiled its new JUA Series of EDLC (Electric Double Layer Capacitor) during this year’s CEATEC Japan 2018, held at the Makurhari Messe in Tokyo in October.
The JUA Series incorporates Nichicon expansion and development of EDLC capacitors. This latest series incorporates structural revisions in our pursuit of low resistance by adopting components that stabilize electrolytes over a long period of time. In addition, the design and material elements were optimized. For applications requiring high instantaneous output the use of low-resistance devices offer the benefit of reducing voltage drop during discharge while achieving this in smaller package sizes. For example, devices that discharge 1.2 A for three seconds or more between 5 V and 2 V over a 10 year span at 40 °C currently require a volume of 7.7 cc in with two φ12.5 mm in series. This newly developed product can be downsized to 3.1cc with two φ10 in series, or approximately 60% reduction in volume from earlier versions. The JUA contributes to equipment miniaturization.
As a backup power supply, these products are also ideal for portable game devices and storage servers, enabling maintenance-free operation and lower environmental impacts when used to replace secondary batteries.
